      BATESVILLE - The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville's annual Renaissance Days start Friday with area high school competitions. This year's theme is Arts and Crafts in the Renaissance Marketplace. Area high schools will compete in the following: quiz bowl, carving contest, costume contest, banner contest, scavenger hunt, tug o' war and a cooking contest. Activities will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 2:15 p.m. Friday will conclude with an evening performance. The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Independence Hall and will feature the Ladies of the Salty Kiss Comedy Troupe. Saturday's activities begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until 3 p.m. Activities will include horse rides, prizes, a bounce house, contests, dancing, battles, sword fighters, archers, music crafts, vendors and comedy. Demonstrations by the Society for Creative Anachronism will include renaissance music and dance, castle life, hammered dulcimer, sword fighters, archery and may pole. Concessions will be available both days and will include turkey legs, stews, pizza, drinks, desserts and side.       When: July 9-11th 2010 Where: Show Low, AZ Medieval Mayhem will be held at the Vacation Village Rodeo Grounds July 9-11th. Gates will open at 10am and close at 6pm. Friday from 10am-1pm kids get in free with a paid adult admission for our education day. Kids can pick up a treasure map and collect stamps from the vendor, then at the end of the day turn the completed map in to the Medieval mayhem booth and collect a "treasure"! Sunday from 2pm-4pm we are putting tickets on sale 2-for-1! We have the Greyhound Guild and our lovely royal court (TARGE) joining us again. We also have Sammie Kinney raising money for her breast cancer walk by letting kids lay siege to the castle. Live wolves will also join us this year from Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. We have entertainment this year! After, Ivar tried last year Bronwyn decided to get some real entertainment. Listen to the beautiful vocals of Ms. Shauna Burns or be amazed and amused by the banterings of C. Shantee & Sandy's "Pyrate Nautical Nonsense. But for the first time in Medieval Mayhem history, we are joined by the mesmerizing drumming talents of Three Guys & a Bunch of Drums from the Arizona Renaissance Faire.

At this unusual festival, you will enjoy shows, food, a lively marketplace and an overall good time. There's a menagerie of interesting characters as you travel about the faire and witness living history demonstrations including blacksmithing, weaving, costuming and much more. Just like Medieval times, you will want to cheer on your favorite champion in the mounted jousting that's a big part of the event. Renaissance in the Pines is a step back in time to the Shire of Stone Ridge to the year 1560 for a festival in honor of Queen Elizabeth I. Besides jousting with fully armored knights, there's renaissance games of skill and chance, a marketplace full of rare and unique treasures, stage shows of swordplay and comedy acts, children's theater, music, dancing and much more.

      This is an all volunteer charity event. It will be held this year in The Community Park in Bullhead City, Arizona. This park is located on Hwy 95, right on the Colorado River and across the river from Laughlin Nevada. This is an official event of The Adrian Empire. Funds raised from this event will go to The Boys and Girls Club of Bullhead City, The Alpha 1 Foundation, and The Kingdom of Albion. We will have onsite encampment for Albion members and other groups. We encourage those with period tents to come and stay. A minimal site fee of $10 per adult will be charged for camping. You may reduce the fee to $5 if you volunteer to work for at least 2 hours per day for the faire. This can include demos and entertaining.       1542 In The Park - The faire will open each day with Henry VIII sending his troops to Scotland to retaliate against their border raids. A border war will be re-enacted in the open area between the English and Scots camps. Henry, Catherine Parr and the English court will then have a public banquet to celebrate the victory.
